Dr. Maddox performs cosmetic surgery of the “puffy” lower eyelids in a unique way that requires no skin incision and therefore no skin sutures. The goal of the “transconjunctival approach” accessing the fat through the back surface or inside (conjunctiva) of the lower eyelid vs. through the outside or skin of the lower eyelid is to reduce the fatty bulges and to improve skin folds and skin texture. Pronounced bulges of the lower lids contribute to the “tired look” with circles under the eyes. This is obviously very noticeable to others and more so to you when you look in the mirror.
Skin texture and folds of the lower lids can be improved effectively by laser resurfacing but NEVER by surgery. The old procedure of making a skin incision under the lashes of the lower eyelid produced many problems. With the “transconjunctival approach” or through the inside of the lower eyelid, the circles of the lower lids can be reduced and become less obvious by removing the fatty bulges in this unique manner.
Upper Eyelid Surgery
The goal of “puffy” upper eyelid surgery is to rejuvenate and refresh your appearance by reducing the sagging fullness and/or sagging skin of the upper lid. Often times one will present with a “tired look” where the upper lid skin covers or starts to cover the upper eye lashes. This becomes especially difficult for the female to use upper eyelid makeup. The upper lid blepharoplasty is performed with the idea of removing upper lid folds and fatty bulges giving one more of a natural and refreshed look, avoiding the “surgical look”.
It is always ok to remove a bit too little but never ok to remove too much. The upper lid skin is sutured and the sutures will be removed in 7 to 10 days. The upper lid blepharoplasty takes 30 to 40 minutes. |
